Warehouse air conditioning | Arctic Cooling

Warehouse air conditioning, ventilation and cold storage refrigeration across Heathrow, West London and the M4 corridor. One in-house multi-trade contractor, no downtime.

Warehouse air conditioning for logistics and distribution

Big spaces, tight margins, no time for downtime. That’s the reality of running a distribution centre, and it’s the brief we work to. Arctic Cooling designs, installs and maintains warehouse air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration across Heathrow, West London and the M4 corridor, sized for large volumes and built to keep working shift after shift.

We’re based around Heathrow and work across West London, the Thames Valley and the M4/M25 corridor, then wider across Heathrow, West London and the M4 corridor. Our own engineers self-deliver every trade, so one contractor is accountable for the whole site from survey to sign-off.

What we cover

A logistics building rarely needs one system. It needs cooling in some zones, air movement in others, refrigeration for stored product, and comfort conditions for the people running it. We cover all of it under one contract.

Air conditioning and ventilation for warehouses and distribution centres

Cooling a high-bay warehouse is a different job to cooling an office, and the energy bill is where it’s won or lost. Heat rises and stratifies under a high roof, so the answer is usually a mix of targeted cooling where people and sensitive stock are, plus warehouse ventilation to shift heat and keep air moving through the volume. We size the system to the building and the operation rather than dropping in more cooling than the space needs.

Refrigeration and cold storage

For chilled and frozen goods we install and maintain cold storage refrigeration — coldrooms, freezer rooms and the plant that serves them. Get the temperature wrong and it hits stock value and shelf life directly, so these systems get the same monitoring and fast reactive cover as everything else on site.

Office and welfare areas

Warehouses come with offices, mezzanine admin space, canteens and welfare areas. We handle the comfort cooling and ventilation for those alongside the main building, so you’re not calling one firm for the warehouse floor and another for the office upstairs.

Planned maintenance and reactive cover
Once a site is running, keeping it running is the priority. We offer planned maintenance to catch faults before they stop the operation, plus same-day reactive call-out for all clients. Maintenance-contract clients get faster response and, where the contract calls for it, up to 24/7 cover.

Installing and upgrading without stopping the operation

Most logistics sites run long hours, and plenty run around the clock. That’s the real worry when you bring in a contractor: not the kit, but whether the work stops the flow of goods. We plan installs and upgrades around your operation — phased zone by zone, out of hours, or scheduled to your quieter windows — so the building keeps working while we work in it. That might mean cooling one aisle while goods keep moving through the next, or running new pipework overnight before the first shift starts. On a live site that only holds together when one team controls the sequence, which is exactly how we’re set up.

Why Arctic Cooling

We deliver all seven of our trades in-house — air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, catering, mechanical and ventilation, and maintenance. On a multi-trade logistics site that means no blame-chain between separate firms and no waiting on a subcontractor to turn up before the next stage can start.

We’re also cleared to work airside at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, with airside passes and permits held directly in Arctic Cooling’s own name. That work runs to strict access, timing and safety rules with zero tolerance for disruption. If we can deliver at a live airport, we can deliver in your warehouse.

We’ve been trading since 2016 with approaching 40 engineers, and we’re F-Gas certified, SafeContractor approved, Constructionline Gold and NICEIC Approved Contractor for commercial electrical work. We hold Daikin D1 status — Daikin’s highest installer tier, which means extended manufacturer warranties on Daikin equipment — and we’re a Mitsubishi approved partner. Clients include British Airways, CBRE and Fortnum & Mason.

Frequently asked questions

Is air conditioning or ventilation a legal requirement in a warehouse?
There’s no single rule that says a warehouse must have air conditioning — it depends on the building, what’s stored there and who’s working in it. In practice most warehouses need proper ventilation more than full air conditioning, with cooling targeted at the zones that need it: offices, welfare areas, and anywhere temperature-sensitive stock is held. We assess the building and tell you what’s actually required versus what’s nice to have.
Heat stratifies under a high roof, so cooling the whole air volume is expensive and usually pointless. We cool where the people and sensitive stock are, use ventilation to move heat out of the upper volume, and size the system to the operation. Getting that balance right is where the running cost is controlled.
Yes. We plan the work around how the site runs — phased zone by zone, out of hours, or in your quieter windows — so goods keep moving while we work. Because our own engineers deliver every trade, one team controls the sequence on a live site, which is how disruption stays down.
Yes. We install and maintain coldrooms, freezer rooms and the plant that serves them, and we cover the whole site under one contract. A few degrees out for a few hours can cost you in stock value and shelf life, so refrigeration gets planned maintenance plus same-day reactive call-out, with faster response and up to 24/7 cover for maintenance-contract clients.
