Office air conditioning | Arctic Cooling

Office air conditioning and ventilation installed and maintained across Heathrow, West London and the M4 corridor, fitted around occupied floors with minimal disruption.

Commercial offices

A comfortable office is a productive one, and a noticed one when it’s wrong. Get the temperature or the air quality wrong and you’ll hear about it by mid-morning. We install and maintain office air conditioning and ventilation for commercial offices across Heathrow, West London and the M4 corridor, quiet, efficient and fitted around the working day rather than in place of it.

Arctic Cooling has traded since 2016 and runs approaching 40 engineers. We self-deliver seven trades in-house, so the same firm that surveys your floor plate also installs the kit, wires it, commissions it and comes back to service it. There’s no blame-chain between separate contractors when something needs sorting.

What we cover

Office air conditioning
Most commercial offices run on VRF, split or multi-zone systems, and the right choice depends on the size of the floor plate, how it’s partitioned and how occupancy changes through the day. A single open-plan floor has different demands to a building carved into meeting rooms, cellular offices and a server cupboard. We size the system to the space and the heat load, not to a rule of thumb, and specify equipment that’s quiet enough to sit above people working. Zoned controls let different areas run at different setpoints rather than one thermostat trying to satisfy the whole floor. As a Daikin D1 installer — the highest installer tier Daikin operates — we can extend the manufacturer warranty on Daikin equipment, and we’re also a Mitsubishi approved partner. See our full air conditioning services for the detail.
Office ventilation and air quality

Cooling on its own doesn’t fix stale air. A well-sealed modern office needs mechanical ventilation to bring fresh air in and take out the stuff you don’t want sitting around a full meeting room. Enclosed offices need a supply of fresh air by law, and good office ventilation is what keeps that right without throwing away the energy you’ve spent heating or cooling the space. We install and upgrade ventilation and heat-recovery systems, and where an office already has ductwork that’s underperforming, we’ll survey what’s there before recommending anything. More on our mechanical and ventilation work.

Planned maintenance and reactive cover

Air conditioning that isn’t serviced drifts out of efficiency, drips, and eventually fails on the hottest day of the year. A planned maintenance contract keeps filters, coils, refrigerant charge and controls in check, and keeps you the right side of F-Gas obligations on the equipment. All our clients get same-day reactive call-out; maintenance-contract clients get a faster response and can arrange up to 24/7 cover. Our maintenance and service contracts set out what’s included.

Electrical, plumbing and the rest of the building

Office moves and refits rarely stop at air conditioning. A new floor layout usually means extra power circuits, re-routed containment or an upgraded distribution board; a new kitchenette or shower room means small plumbing works. Electrical (NICEIC) and plumbing both sit inside Arctic Cooling as trades in their own right, so we can pick that work up alongside the air conditioning install instead of you finding and coordinating separate contractors for it.
We’re also SafeContractor approved and hold Constructionline Gold, which usually covers what a facilities or procurement team needs before adding a contractor to an approved supplier list.

Fitted around your business

Disruption is the real worry with an office install. Most of our office work happens in occupied buildings that can’t shut down while we fit it. We phase the work floor by floor, run the noisy and dusty stages out of hours or at weekends, and keep dust, cabling and access under control so your people can keep working next to it.
This is the same way we work airside at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, where there’s no option to stop the operation while we’re on site. Our airside clearances, engineer passes and driving permits are held directly in Arctic Cooling’s own name. If we can deliver airside at a live airport, an occupied office floor is well within reach.

Office air conditioning installation, start to finish

An office air conditioning installation runs from survey and heat-load calculation through design, install, commissioning and handover, with one point of contact throughout. Because the trades sit under one roof, the electrical first fix, the pipework and the ventilation aren’t waiting on three separate diaries to line up. That’s usually where office fit-outs slip, and it’s the part we control.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature should office air conditioning be set at?
There’s no single legal maximum for a UK office, but most run comfortably around 21 to 23°C. The better answer is zoning: we set systems up so different areas can hold different setpoints, rather than one thermostat trying to please a whole floor.
Most office systems want servicing at least once a year to hold efficiency and catch small faults before they become failures. Heavier-used systems, or those carrying an F-Gas leak-check obligation, may need two or more visits. A planned maintenance contract schedules these so nothing gets missed.
Filter cleaning or replacement, coil cleaning, refrigerant and leak checks, drainage, electrical and controls checks, plus F-Gas record-keeping where it applies. Contract clients also get a faster reactive response than pay-as-you-go call-outs and can arrange up to 24/7 cover on the equipment we look after.
